First off, one particular site I'm parital to:

"Vested Interests"

You'll love this soap! All natural and handmade on The Hill in St. Louis, MO. A great gift for anyone. Actually, I won't make a cent on any of these purchases; I just like the company and its products.

The Big Kahuna: Amazon.com

The granddaddy of 'em all, so big you can't miss it.

Megalo-Marts

A bunch of major sites for all-purpose shopping.

Click here for the Best Buy Weekly Specials Wal-Mart.com USA, LLC
Best Buy Wal-Mart Buy.com iTunes.com

Sears logo 125x125 FreeDelivery125x125static
Kmart Sears Kohls OfficeMax

125x125 No Border TGW PetSmart Office Depot, Inc
The Golf Warehouse PETsMART Office Depot Old Navy

And now all things tech-related:

Dell Computers (my personal preference)

Dell Small Business Dell Home / Home Office
Typically slightly better deals than the Home / Home Office store Good for comparing prices against the Small Business store

Online Services

GoToMyPC - Access Your MacŪ or PC From Anywhere
Mozy.com GoToMyPC.com

Affordable, secure online data backup:

  • Free for 2 GB on 1 computer
  • $5.99/month for 50 GB on 1 computer
  • $9.99/month for 125 GB across 3 computers
  • Two-year plans earn 3 months free

Your data is actually safer on Mozy's servers than it is on your own PC, and it's protected against catastrophies such as fire, flooding, or theft.

My experience is that Mozy's software is much easier to use than other services'. And it can even back up your data to an external hard drive in addition to backing it up online. Moreover, unlike other services, it can back up your data while it's in use, which is particularly importanst for those who use Microsoft Outlook.

If you do purchase a plan, make sure to specify the name of the current month in all capital letters in the promo code box at checkout (e.g., DECEMBER), and you'll get 10% off your order.

If you ever have the need to work on your home computer when you're away from it, this service is for you.

Sit down at any Internet-connected PC (or iPad, for that matter) and via "remote control" use your home PC as if you were sitting right in front of it. What you'll see on-screen is your actual home computer screen, and what you do with it will actually be happening on your home computer.

Try it for free for 30 days through the link above. Paid subscriptions run about $14.95/month.

Personally, I don't know what I'd do without this service. Many of my clients share that sentiment.

Try Angie's List!
 AngiesList.com
A large percentage of my clients first found me through Angie's List. This link is an easy way to renew your subscription, buy a gift subscription, or to sign up for the first time for yourself.

Computer Software

QuickBooks
Intuit QuickBooks Content Watch's Net Nanny

Intuit QuickBooks is what I use for my own accounting and what I recommend to all my small business clients.

My recommended parental control software

  1. Reasonably priced for multiple-PC households:
    $40/yr for 1 PC
    $20/yr for each extra PC
  2. Ability to block access by activity (e.g., web surfing vs. IM-ing), by web site category (e.g., pornographic, hate/violence, drugs, gambling), by specific web site (e.g., youtube, facebook), or by time of day
  3. Web-based management allows for control over kids' roaming laptops
  4. Profiles allow different kids in the same household to have different access rights
  5. Reporting tells you what your kids have been doing online
  6. Very difficult to circumvent, especially compared to competing products

Computer Hardware

Once You Know, You Newegg TigerDirect
NewEgg.com TigerDirect.com
Consistently the best deals on retail hardware, software, and other electronics, often offering rebates as well. Just like NewEgg.com. Shop between the two, and you can't go wrong.
Great Deals Every Day @ Geeks.com Upgrades Cure Most Ills! 4allmemory.com
ComputerGeeks.com 4AllMemory.com
Great prices on closeout-style items, but make sure what you buy is "new" rather than "refurbished" The best place to get RAM; guaranteed to work with your system, or they'll replace it for free; good prices; free shipping. Located right here in St. Louis, too.

Thank You!

To those of you who have made a point of shopping through the links above, thank you very much! I really appreciate it!

- Scott :-)
